How To Make Our Cold Brew Teas
Preparation Instructions for a Cold Brew
Water Guide
The amount of water you use depends on the size of your tea jar and how strong you prefer your tea.
7 oz Jar (Small)
1 litre of water for a stronger, richer flavour.
Up to 1.5 litres of water for a lighter tea.
12 oz Jar (Medium)
2 litres of water for a stronger flavour.
Up to 2.5 litres of water for a lighter tea.
20 oz Jar (Large)
3 litres of water for a stronger flavour.
Up to 3.5 litres of water for a lighter tea.
Step 1 – Boil the Water
Bring the recommended amount of water to a boil in a kettle.
Step 2 – Add the Tea
Pour the entire contents of your Boutique Eatery tea jar into a saucepan.
Carefully pour the freshly boiled water over the loose tea ingredients.
Step 3 – Simmer
Place the saucepan on the stove over low to medium heat.
Allow the tea to gently simmer for approximately 2–4 minutes, watching it carefully to prevent a vigorous boil.
As the tea brews, you will notice the beautiful deep colour of the hibiscus becoming more vibrant.
Once the tea has reached a gentle simmer and the colour has fully developed, remove it from the heat.
Step 4 – Sweeten
Allow the tea to cool slightly until it is warm rather than boiling, stir in honey to taste.
We recommend adding honey after simmering rather than during the cooking process, as excessive heat may reduce some of the naturally occurring enzymes found in raw honey. Because every honey is different from fresh honeycomb and raw local honey to commercial varieties.
The amount of honey you use is entirely a matter of personal preference.Taste your tea and add as much or as little honey as you enjoy.
Step 5 – Chill
For the fullest flavour, we recommend allowing the tea to cool before placing the entire saucepan (with the tea ingredients still inside) into the refrigerator.
Leaving the fruits, flowers, herbs, and botanicals in the tea while it chills allows the flavours to continue naturally infusing, resulting in a richer, more flavourful cold brew.
Once the tea is completely chilled, strain the tea into a pitcher or glass bottle and refrigerate. Your tea is now ready to enjoy.
Serving Suggestions
Serve chilled over ice for a refreshing antioxidant-rich beverage.
For an extra-special presentation, garnish with fresh fruit, citrus slices, edible flowers, or fresh herbs that complement your tea blend.
Our teas are equally delicious served hot during the colder months. Simply enjoy immediately after simmering without refrigerating.
Storage
Once prepared and sweetened with honey, your Boutique Eatery tea can be stored in the refrigerator for up to three weeks when kept in a clean, covered container.
Preparation Instructions for a Hot Tea
Crafted to be enjoyed hot or cold, Boutique Eatery teas are equally delightful as a comforting cup of hot tea or a vibrant, refreshing cold brew.
Every blend is thoughtfully created to offer a delicious and nourishing experience, no matter the season.
To prepare a single cup of hot tea
2 teaspoons of loose tea for a lighter, more delicate flavour.
Up to 1 tablespoon of loose tea if you prefer a richer, stronger infusion.
Place the tea into a tea infuser ball, reusable tea infuser, or compostable tea bag, then pour freshly boiled water over the tea.
Allow the tea to steep for 2–3 minutes, depending on your preferred strength. Once the tea has finished steeping, remove the tea leaves and enjoy while warm.
If desired, sweeten with honey to taste. We recommend adding the honey after the tea has steeped to help preserve the naturally occurring enzymes found in raw honey.
Crafted to be enjoyed hot or cold, every Boutique Eatery tea celebrates the abundant flavours and nourishing goodness found in nature.
Boutique Eatery Brewing Tip For Cold Brews
We recommend brewing them as a hot herbal infusion first before chilling them.
This gentle simmering process allows the whole fruits, edible flowers, herbs, and botanicals to fully release their natural flavours, aromas, colours, and beneficial plant compounds. Chilling the tea afterward creates a beautifully smooth, vibrant, and refreshing cold brew with exceptional depth of flavour.
Whether enjoyed ice cold on a warm summer day, served alongside an evening meal, or savoured steaming hot in a teacup, every blend is thoughtfully crafted to celebrate the beauty, goodness, and nourishment found in nature.
“Every cup is a celebration of nature’s abundance.
